Grand Illusion Finished

My Grand Illusion top is finished.

I decided I didn’t want to cut any more fabric to make additional blocks. So I stopped at 9, which gives me a 60″ square top. Because my top is smaller, I had to modify the corner squares in the border. I used the gray/red 4 patches instead. It looked better than the units called for. I love it.

  1. I love your colours!!
I still have to figure out the border… I have a 4 by 4 setting.
Did you notice one of the cornerblocks is turned the other direction than the other three?

You’re finished quilt will look great! Well done!

  2. I really like your colors! I am making a smaller version too and it was nice to see how you tackled the outer border. I was considering making a separate unit to put in the middle of each side, but I see that there really is no point in doing it. Great quilt!
